Former California quarterback Allan Bridgford plans to transfer to Southern Miss for the upcoming football season, he said today.
Bridgford, who was limited by injuries early in his career at Cal, played in six games and started three during the 2012 season. He completed 31 of 68 passes for 461 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
Bridgford currently has one year of eligibility remaining, but that could increase to two if USM successfully applies for an extra season through a medical hardship. Injuries prevented the quarterback from playing in his first two years at Cal.
Bridgford is set to graduate soon from California.
Bridgford, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., is listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds.
