Pascagoula High School boys basketball coach Tony Combs is stepping down at the school after leading the Panthers to back-to-back trips to the Class 5A semifinals in Jackson.
Combs previously served as the head coach at Theodore (Ala.) High School for 30 years.
He took over at Pascagoula prior to the 2011-12 season and finishes with a record of 47-14 at the school.
Combs said Wednesday that he first informed Pascagoula High School principal Al Sparkman in January that he would not be returning to the school.
Never miss a local story.
"This is a great place to coach," Combs said.
The 2012-13 season was a difficult one for Combs as he tried to manage the egos on his roster.
"This year was not fun in the respect that we just had problems every day dealing with some little something," he said.
Combs said that he has no specific plans on what he plans to do next with his career. He said he could potentially get out of coaching.
