Cody Miller put in a stellar performance on the pitcher's mound to lead Pearl River Central to a 3-1 win over West Jones Monday night to clinch a 2-1 series win in the Class 5A South State semifinals.
Hattiesburg will host PRC at 7 p.m. on Thursday to start to start the three-game South State series.
In the complete-game effort, Miller held the Mustangs to one run on three hits. He struck out four in seven innings. The only run that Miller allowed was a solo home run by Jacob Bullock in the first inning.
At the plate, PRC had a total of 10 hits and took advantage of a pair of West Jones errors. PRC scored on an error in the outfield to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.
Jeshua Lee, Nick Newman and Miller all had two hits each for the Blue Devils.
PRC continued its impressive defense by not committing an error in the game.
PRC rebounded from losing the series opener 8-2 to win the final two games, including a 9-1 win in game two.
