Moss Point senior Lamarcus Harris was taken to Gulfport Memorial Hospital in an ambulance Friday night after he was injured during his team's 40-14 win at Long Beach.
Harris was expected to stay overnight for observation, according to Moss Point School District spokeswoman Stephanie Packer.
The defensive lineman was injured during a collision with one of his teammates while trying to make a tackle in the backfield.
Harris was down on the field for over 30 minutes as a stretcher was taken onto the field for him.
“That is something we don't ever want to see,” Moss Point coach Willie Brown said. “I was able to speak with one of my coaches who went in the ambulance with him and he said he was able to move and everything. It was a scary moment, but we expect him to be OK.”
