Scott Wetherbee, Mississippi State's senior associate athletic director of external affairs, was named the school's interim athletic director on Tuesday.
Wetherbee worked previously in the athletic departments at East Carolina, Fresno State and San Diego State.
“As the MSU athletics director search continues as previously outlined, I think it's important that we have steady, experienced leadership,” MSU president Mark Keenum said in a press release. “With his background and institutional knowledge, Scott Wetherbee offers us that skill set. I deeply appreciate Scott's willingness to serve the university in this important role during the search process.”
Wetherbee is a 1997 graduate of Ball State University.
MSU is in the middle of a national search to find the replacement for Scott Stricklin, who was recently hired as athletic director at Florida.
