Southern Miss will receive $1.4 million for its game at Alabama on Sept. 13, the Tuscaloosa News reports.
It's the second largest payout for a visiting team in Tuscaloosa with Colorado State recently receiving $1.5 million per game in a two-contest deal.
USM and Alabama will play this year for the first time since 2005, renewing a series that the Crimson Tide lead, 34-6-2.
The payout should go a long way to helping USM clear up any financial issues. Less than two years ago, it was revealed that the USM athletic department had a deficit in the neighborhood of $1.2 million.
Alabama's payout for this year's game actually doesn't come close to a record for USM. The Golden Eagles received $2,125,000 for its game at Nebraska this past season to move the game from Hattiesburg to Lincoln, Neb.
