Would like to know
I thought I read in the Sun Herald that there was a culinary art school in Biloxi. I am very interested in this class and would like to have a contact number to find out about enrollment. If anyone knows what I am talking about please respond.
@BR Ednote:
Editor’s note: The Culinary Learning Center in Biloxi is a federally funded program through national emergency grants for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Classes are funded through June. Details: 432-5656. For more details about qualifications for the class go to sunherald.com and look up the article, “Center teaches cooking skills.”
Help schools in any way
Harrison County School District’s budget was cut last year by $2 1/2 million and this year by $4 1/2 million. What do you think these cuts are going to affect? Buy a pack of paper and send it to your child’s school. Help out in any way you can. Write to the governor and ask him not to cut education again. Our children’s education can’t afford it.
School facts
We also have a child in the Harrison County schools. What the North Woolmarket parent meant was: For at least the last four years, our schools are not being furnished from the district level with enough copy paper and ink for copy machines so teachers can make worksheets for class or homework. The schools also cut back on information sent home to parents. Short of buying reams of paper and delivering it to school, the only way to make a monetary donation is to go through your school’s PTA and state. If you donate funds directly to your school, the funds go to district office and will be allocated to the school’s fund for next year. Most are very generous with donations of extras on supply lists.
Historic crater
I’m pleased to announce the Giant Impact Theory of dinosaur extinction is no longer a theory. I discovered the actual impact site. The crater is on Holiday Avenue in Pass Christian. I found it a few nights ago as I was exiting the Wal-Mart parking lot. A combination of good brakes and quick reflexes saved me from plunging to my doom. If you wish to view this historic discovery, you should probably hurry before the city fills it in. That last part was just silly, wasn’t it?
Eye-opening documentary
Friday night I watched “Hallowed Grounds” on PBS. As old as I am, I did not know about all the beautiful American cemeterys all over Europe. It was a moving documentary. The Europeans show their appreciation for the sacrifices made by providing beautiful resting places for our men and women who suffered and died for liberty and freedom all over the world. The documentary reminded me that the fundamental change America is going through now is not why they sacrificed their lives. We are losing the liberties and freedoms they fought and died for.
