Oughta be a law

I have a solution for the dogs at festivals problem. Maybe it’s time for Ocean Springs to move into the 21st century and pass an ordinance prohibiting animals at their festivals. Biloxi did it long ago.

Not a ‘warning’

In recent elections, Democrats held a House seat in California and gained one in New York that had been Republican since 1872. These representatives will soon be sworn in enabling them to vote on health care. So how is this a “Warning sign for Democrats?” Who cares about governors; they don’t vote in Congress.

For safety’s sake

Ma’am, although there was not a policeman present at our elementary school this afternoon, that did not give you the right to drive out of the school pickup zone as quickly as you so irresponsibly chose. Did you not see all of the children that were walking home from school? Since you are a parent with a driver’s license, you need to understand that driving the speed limit of 15 mph is not to inconvenience you, but to provide a safer environment for our children.

Ruins my day

I used to enjoy reading the Sun Herald online, but ever since they added the comments feature, I find myself disappointed on a daily basis by the number of ignorant, selfish and mean people who use the feature to spread hate and misery.

Eternal baseball bliss

I’m 87 years old, and my father was a baseball player. Baseball is our family’s game, and we love it. We wish it would go on forever.

Federal offense

To all of the people who think they can use our mailboxes to place their personal advertisements: You are violating a federal law. Stop it!

No spitting!

Can someone tell me why all the spitting at the World Series game? Golfers don’t, tennis players don’t. Neither do basketball or football players. It was totally disgusting. The players overdid it very badly on both teams and on national TV. They should display better manners.

Sidewalks are for walking

Our new sidewalks in Old Town Bay St. Louis are beautiful. It is great to have them back. So please do not park your vehicle or drive on them. They are designed for pedestrians, not vehicles.

Stop the pirates

Pirates continue to capture boats while the leaders of the world sit on their hands. The last excuses I heard were if the vessels tried to repel boarders and fight back, it might anger the pirates, and the pirates really aren’t violating a law. I think it is ridiculous that the nations that ship through that area cannot find a way to discourage hijacking. If someone would provide the Mississippi National Guard with boats, they could bring this outrage to a screeching halt.
