Change indeed

If Obama gets all his wishes, the “change we can believe in” will become the “change we can spend” because that’s all most taxpayers are going to have left after all the taxes, penalties and higher prices are paid.

Barnacles abound

I was wondering where all the barnacles were coming from. My husband leaves his boat in the water all spring, and then takes it out of the water to remove the barnacles before returning it to the water on the Back Bay, for the summer. He then takes it out of the water to remove the barnacles before returning it to the water for the fall season. I sure wish someone would tell the barnacles they are not here.

Cash crop?

Is MDOT waiting to make the money off of the corn growing on the side of the interstate before they are going to cut it?

Off topic

Now that you’ve given over our Sound Off to the sports fans (short for fanatics), may we have the Sound Off from the Sports section for our use?

By any other name

I live in Orange Grove. My residency began August 1973. I will always live in Orange Grove. Orange Grove called by any other name is still Orange Grove.

Words to lead by

If Obama wants to be re-elected, he should put James Carville’s “It’s the economy, stupid!” on the wall of the Oval Office. It worked for Clinton although he had some later help from a Republican Congress led by Newt Gingrich.

Conservative reform

Many liberals wonder why conservatives would deny health insurance coverage at an affordable price to those currently uninsured. Conservatives do not want to deny that coverage — they just want a better way to do it. Conservatives want insurance companies to be able to compete with each other. Conservatives want health insurance coverage reform to focus only on the true uninsured, not on the coverage of millions of Americans who are happy with their current coverage. Conservatives want reform that will not further increase the national deficit. Conservatives contribute much more to charitable causes than do liberals. Liberals believe in giving to “charity” through their failed welfare programs, which typically means more votes for them but at the expense of higher taxes.

Is it just me?

I wonder if others are having trouble with their garbage pick up? Over the last few months I have had to call about five times because the drivers missed my garbage can. It sits about 10 feet from my neighbor’s can, which they seem to always empty. Mine even has orange fluorescent paint on it, which makes it stand out and still they miss it.
