A teenager suspected of beating a 75-year-old Moss Point man during an armed robbery was arrested in Mobile, Chief Keith Davis said.
Markic Sprur, 19, told a Moss Point detective he would turn himself in and Mobile police were alerted to his location.
Sprur is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault, Davis said.
Davis said Sprur was involved in a home invasion at Stauter and Elder streets and police believe he assaulted the homeowner.
The man’s son and a friend arrived home shortly after the attack and were confronted by two men in camouflage coveralls outside. Davis said the son escaped but his friend was robbed at gunpoint and sustained serious head injuries.
Davis said police believe they know the second man’s identity, but plan to confirm it with Sprur today in Mobile.
Anyone with information that can help is urged to call the Moss Point Police Department at 475-1711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
