Gulfport set a record low temperature this morning of 41 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The last record set was 43 degrees in 2005, said Shawn O'Neil, a meteorologist with the NWS in New Orleans.
A strong cold front moved through the area last weekend and is responsible for the cooler weather, O'Neil said.
But it's not going to last, he said.
Temperatures will be back to 80 degrees and higher by Wednesday; however, no rain is expected until the weekend.
