Two cold-weather shelters will open in Harrison County beginning Thursday night because of below-freezing temperatures in South Mississippi.
Rupert Lacy, emergency manager in Harrison County, said temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
The shelters in the county that will be open are the Salvation Army at 2019 22nd Street in Gulfport and the multi-purpose building at 10395 Auto Mall Parkway in D'Iberville. Both shelters will open daily at 4:30 p.m. and close at 8 a.m.
Coast Transit Authority will provide transportation along its fixed routes.
