The train crossing at Rodenburg Avenue will be closed for most of the day following a collision this morning between a car and a train, police said.
An Alabama man was ejected from his vehicle and was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. He was alert and conscious, Police Sgt. Bennie Hickman said.
The man's car was southbound on Rodenburg when he collided with the train, which was headed east at about 10:16 a.m.
Hickman advised motorists trying to enter Gate 7 at Keesler Air Force Base to use Beauvoir Avenue to get to Pass Road. The train is stopped from Rodenburg east to St. John in Biloxi. St. John is open.
Police said the train has been moved to open the crossings at Rodenberg Avenue and Iberville Drive. Hickman said there was enough room between those two crossings to pull the train up to open the roads while they wait for a safety inspector to arrive from Florida.
