The misaligned manhole covers on Pass Road are not only hard on vehicles but pose a very real safety hazard as drivers trying to avoid them are more prone to accidents. The problem is a result of the installation contractor not being required to locate the manholes in the very center of each lane.
As a retired engineer, I suggest the following: Have a machine shop carefully measure each cover to see how far it is below the road surface. Make a metal spacer to fill the gap. I have talked to a local machine shop owner who is qualified to do this work. I know it would take a long time to complete this job, but it could eventually be finished.
