LONG BEACH - Police confirmed about 9 a.m. that one suspect is in custody in connection with an armed robbery at the Waffle House in Long Beach.

They continue to look for a second suspect.

The suspect was captured in the 5500 block of Gates Avenue.

Assistant Police Chief Don Bass said the holdup was in the parking lot of the Waffle House at U.S. 90 and Jeff Davis Avenue just before 8 a.m. The two victims got in their blue vehicle and followed the two suspects, who were in a red vehicle, Bass said. The victims' vehicle collided with a patrol car at Ida and West Railroad. "They wre shaken up but no one was hurt," Bass said. The two suspects got out and fled on foot. The Sun Herald updates this story as details develop.
