Remika Patton's mother took the stand this morning in the murder trial of Frank D. Patton, who is accused of killing his wife.
Remika's mother said her daughter and Frank Patton were having marital problems and she was considering leaving the marriage.
Patton, 31, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Remika Patton, 30, at the couple’s home on Hilma Street in Moss Point on Feb. 23, 2008.
A 911 dispatcher took the stand in that case Tuesday, while jurors listened to the dispatcher’s 36-minute conversation with Patton the night of the killing.
In the tape, Patton is crying and saying he’s been shot, though he doesn’t mention his wife until later when the dispatcher asked if she was injured. The dispatcher is later heard telling Patton to let go of his wife so he can go to their front door to let police officers on the scene inside.
The couple’s two young children were home at the time at the time. Police later found the murder weapon, a .380-caliber handgun, under a couch in the home near Remika Patton’s body.
