A flood warning has been issued for the Biloxi River near Lyman from Sunday evening until Tuesday morning, with the river expected to crest about 1.5 feet above flood stage.
Flood stage on the Biloxi is 12 feet, with a crest of 13.5 feet expected Monday morning, the National Weather Service said. The river should fall below flood stage by early Tuesday morning, according to the NWS.
The river was at 9.4 feet Sunday afternoon, but is expected to surpass flood stage Sunday evening.
River Road near Three Rivers Road bridge will begin to flood at 12 feet.
The Lorraine Road bridge will begin to flood when the river reaches 13 feet, a warning sent out by the Harrison County Emergency Management Agency said.
More than 5 inches of rain fell in northeastern Harrison County on Sunday morning, the EMA said, overfilling the river.
