BAY ST. LOUIS -- The Bay of St. Louis Bridge is a finalist in America’s Transportation Award competition, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Currently, state Department of Transportation Director Larry L. “Butch Brown” said, the Bay of St. Louis Bridge is in the lead in the competition to win a People’s Choice Award.

The bridge project is one of 10 projects selected to compete for the award and grand prize.

Transportation officials are encouraging residents to attend a “Thank You Rally” at the state capitol on Tuesday.

“We would like to thank everyone for taking the time out of their busy schedules to vote for Mississippi’s beautiful Bay of St. Louis Bridge,” Brown said.

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials sponsors with national competition in conjunction with AAA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The winner will be announced on Oct. 19.

The winning state would receive funding for an educational grant in transportation.
