Keesler officials say all gates at Keesler Air Force Base are reopened following a training exercise earlier Thursday.
The officials said, however, to expect traffic delays in the area and increased emergency vehicle traffic.
Keesler officials had warned that a gate closure at Keesler on Thursday morning could cause traffic delays in the area.
At 8:30 a.m. a force protection exercise resulted in the closing of all gates, said public affairs officer Capt. David Murphy in a press release.
There will also be building lock downs, customer service delays and emergency service personnel moving around the base.
Wait times of up to 15 minutes are possible at the gates, and visitors should plan accordingly, Murphy said.
You can follow live updates of the closure at Keesler’s Twitter account, @81trwKeeslerAFB.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the gate closure would occur later in the week. The Sun Herald apologizes for the confusion.
