GULFPORT -- A federal criminal complaint filed against an Ocean Springs man is demanding he pay the government nearly $70,000 he received in Social Security benefits he was not entitled to.
John K. Green of Parktown Drive received $69,707 in disability payments between August 2007 and June 2011 because he was unable to work.
However, authorities learned he had been working during that time.
The complaint demands Green repay the money he received along with court costs, any interest on the balance of what is owed and a $400 filing fee.
A deputy U.S. marshal in Gulfport served him with the complaint April 26.
A court appearance has not been set.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Pshon Barrett is prosecuting the case.
