About the criminal cases
The August term of the Hancock County grand jury reviewed 144 criminal cases during its six-month term.
According to a final report filed Feb. 2, the cases were handled as follows:
True bills: 85 indictments returned (5 indicted as habitual offenders, 8 cases recommended for enhanced penalties)
No true bills: 26 cases had insufficient evidence to indict
Cases passed to the next grand jury: 5
Cases returned to law enforcement: 27
Cases docketed in error: 1
