D'IBERVILLE -- Police are searching for a hitchhiker accused of stabbing someone in the neck with a syringe Monday morning, D'Iberville Police Capt. Clay Jones confirmed.
The incident was reported at 7:08 a.m.
The victim, Jones said, had noticed the suspect walking along the shoulder of Mississippi 67 southbound, just north of the Promenade Parkway, and stopped to give him a ride. The suspect asked to be dropped off at the corner of D'Iberville Boulevard and Popp's Ferry Road, Jones said.
That's when, police said, the suspect pulled out a syringe and stabbed the victim in the neck and ran off. The suspect was last seen running in westbound direction on Popp's Ferry Road towards the Biloxi city limits.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation.
Police do not know if there was a substance in the syringe at the time of the stabbing.
The suspect was described as a black man with a medium build. He was wearing black gloves, dark pants, a yellow shirt and a dark jacket along with a knit hat.
