The Vancleave Public Library has received a $2,000 federal grant to buy ebooks, DVDs and print study guides to help people study for their GED high school equivalency test.
The materials are available to any person in the Jackson-George Regional Library System with a valid library card.
The GED Collection includes test study guides, practice guides, GED reviews in math, science, social studies, language, reading and many other subjects. Most are available in ebook form that can be accessed from mobile devices. Some of the materials are available in Spanish.
Demand for the materials has outpaced supply, but branch manager Jeanne Damiano said she was able to purchase enough materials in a variety of formats so patrons from other branches can also use the collection.
Never miss a local story.
The grant came from he Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Mississippi Library Commission.
The Vancleave library is at 12604 Mississippi 57.
