The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 over the Pascagoula River are reopened after an 18-wheeler caught fire this morning on the long bridge.
The truck was westbound and the fire occurred near mile marker 66 on the Gautier side of the bridge. Moss Point Police were the first responders and officers said it was a refrigerated truck.
Responding now are members of Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Gautier Police and Fire, Moss Point Fire, Mississippi Highway Patrol and the state Department of Environmental Quality's hazardous materials team.
East and westbound lanes are closed to traffic, according to police, so emergency vehicles can get to the scene
Motorists should be advised of traffic delays in the area and take an alternate route if possible.
