Two Kemp's ridley sea turtles were released back into their natural habitat off the coast of Gulfport on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, after being rehabilitated by the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies. They were also fitted with a satellite tag to collect scientific information.

Gulfport police patrolman Mike Hauler was photographed picking up a kitten in the middle of the road after it had been hit by a car. Hauler was turning around to pick up the kitten when it was hit by a car.
