The City Council just voted unanimously to borrow up to $10 million for major construction projects.
City officials say they want to spend most of the money on road improvements. Private consultants have prioritized the roads in need of work, based on conndition and traffic count. Each council member also is traveling the roads in his or her ward with public works personnel to develop road improvement priorities by ward.
The resolution approving a bond issue also says money can be used for water and sewer and recreation improvements, to match federal funds and to improve energy efficiency of city property.
