Police have confirmed a child struck by a pickup truck this morning on Dedeaux Road has been air-lifted to a trauma center in Mobile.
The child's age and name have not been released, but police said the victim is of pre-teen age.
Police said the child was hit by a Ford Ranger about 6:26 a.m. while crossing the road near the intersection of Latimer Street. Police say the area is near a school bus stop.
The driver was cited for traffic violations. Accident-reconstructions were still on the scene more than two hours later. Police said they're also working through language barriers with those involved in the accident.
Officials with the Harrison County School District could not be immediately reached.
