At today's Biloxi City Council meeting, Community Development Director Jerry Creel said several of the blighted buildings damaged by Hurricane Katrina will be demolished.
Among those coming down are the old Hancock Bank building at 808 Beach Blvd., the Buddy Gunn building at 120 Reynoir St. that formerly housed the Catholic Diocese, the old theater building at 1756 Beach Blvd. on the strip and the old R. A. Fayard Seafood Co. building at 732 Bayview Ave. between the IP and Boomtown casinos.
The actions are a result of Senate Bill 3204 that was passed to deal with blighted buildings damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The bill only applies to properties in the city of Biloxi.
