GULFPORT - American Medical Response has transported three people to a hospital after a vehicle left the highway near Harrison Central High School and struck a tree.
A teenaged girl was driving the vehicle, which was northbound on U.S. 49, said Master Sgt. Johnny Poulos of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
He could not immediately confirm if the girl and the passengers are students at the high school. Paramedics had already taken the injured to a hospital when a state trooper reached the scene. The crash was reported at 7:50 a.m. The trooper has gone to the hospital to interview the injured and witnesses who followed them to the hospital, Poulos said.
