If you’ve ever wanted to listen to your local news in your vehicle or at the gym or anywhere you go, the Sun Herald now has two ways you can enjoy it on the go.
“#ClarkCast Podcast” is a podcast that is hosted by Sun Herald staff writer Jeff Clark. It is available for download and subscription in iTunes and Apple Podcast.
The show is taped in the Sun Herald newsroom Tuesday-Friday. It covers a wide variety of topics including news of the day with various newsroom staffers including Anita Lee, Paul Hampton and Robin Fitzgerald. Members of the sports team often participate, as well. On Fridays, Executive Editor Blake Kaplan and Digital Editor Kate Magandy join the podcast to discuss the news trends for the week plus members of the Sun Herald staff try different foods and opine on them. Clark also talks to members of the community and the news-makers in a one-on-one setting.

Sun Herald Social Media Editor Justin Mitchell is the host of “Out Here in America,” a podcast curated by McClatchy, the Sun Herald’s parent company. “Out Here in America” is about the experience of being gay in the Deep South. Mitchell interviews members of the LGBTQ community and what it’s like to be gay in the South.
In the first season, Mitchell interviewed comic Tig Nataro and he spent a few days in Orlando interviewing a survivor of the Pulse Night Club shooting. Season one also features episodes on being gay in the military, gay marriage and owning a gay bar in Mississippi. “Out Here in America” is available for download and subscription at iTunes, Apple Podcast and Stitcher.”
