Monte Bostwick will resign as CEO of Merit Health Biloxi at the end of the month after accepting a position with a hospital system in Texas.

Health Management Associates, which manages the hospital, has begun the search for a new chief executive officer. The job posting on the LinkedIn website said the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree is “highly preferred.” Other qualifications are at least 15 years of experience in the health care field and expertise in a variety of areas.

Bostwick came to the hospital, then Biloxi Regional, in 2010 during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and the congressional debate on health care.

Merit Health is the fourth hospital Bostwick has led.

He was raised in New Mexico and his first job at a hospital was as a transportation aide.

He later got his MBA with an emphasis in health care from Texas Tech University.
