The Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District has awarded scholarships to Kaitlyn Ladner and Michael Bass, both of whom will attend Pearl River Community College in the fall. Ladner will pursue a career in nursing and Bass is enrolling in the Lineman Program.
In 2015, SMPDD endowed $100,000 to PRCC. Each year, this will allow two Hancock County students -- one in an academic program and one in a skills-related program -- a $750 scholarship.
SMPDD assists 38 municipal governments within its 15-county district that includes Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River and Stone counties.
