Dr. Christy Sones Thornton, a native of Jackson, was named the district health officer for the Mississippi Department of Health's Coastal Plains Public Health District IX, which includes George Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River and Stone counties. Thornton earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and her medical degree from the University of South Alabama.
The Gulfport and Biloxi offices of Page, Mannino, Peresich & McDermott announced its 2015 Mid-South Super Lawyers honorees: Ronald Peresich, Ronald Peresich Jr., Cowles Symmes and Michael Whitehead were named Super Lawyers, and Randi Mueller was named a Rising Star.
Tommy Murphy, a native of Pascagoula, was named the coast division manager of Mississippi Power. Murphy has been with Mississippi Power since 1985, and he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science and a minor in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology management program.
Albert Pickard III, a native of St. Martin, was named the controller at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport. Pickard earned his both his Bachelor of Arts and master's degree in business administration from Delta State University in Cleveland.
