Long Beach Mayor George Bass is the first in the city’s history to hire a community affairs director.
He appointed Jenny Levens, a lifelong resident of Long Beach and the former director of the Long Beach and Pass Christian Chamber of Commerce, to take on the position.
Levens said the job entails handling the city’s social media, letting residents know about upcoming events, being a liaison between the city and business owners, working on beautification projects and meeting with potential developers.
She has a degree in business from University of Southern Mississippi and worked for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce for five years. She is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organization and Leadership Gulf Coast Class of 2014 and is in the Mississippi Economic Council’s Leadership Mississippi Class. She was named one of the Top 10 Under 40 in the 2016 One Coast Awards.
