From sunup to sundown for four days straight, Moss Point junior high and high school cheerleaders recently participated in the Universal Cheerleading Association Cheerleading Camp in Panama City Beach, Fla.

The high school squad was awarded the Banana Peel Spirit Award on the first day of camp for having the most spirit among the 22 squads.

In addition to the spirit award, the high school team also won the “Cooler” Award for being one of two selected as the coolest squads. They placed third in Home Pom Dance, Extreme Dance Routine and Camp Cheer.

The junior high team received Most Improved Squad, third place Cheer and a Spirit Stick.

Moss Point High freshman DeArra Wells and senior CaNeechia Mack made the Allstars Team. They had to tried out by performing a cheer, dance and two jumps.

As Allstars, Mack has been invited to London to participate in a Christmas Parade, and Wells will head to Orlando to be a part of the pre-game show for the Capital One Bowl.
