Today we celebrate our freedom. We practice it every day we read the news, go to church or speak our mind, but we celebrate it this one day a year. Sometimes in between we forget what freedom means until a place or an event reminds us of the gift we Americans should treasure.
This past week, I was surrounded by American heroes on visits to Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg Saturday and Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi Monday.

The argument that a Hurricane Katrina Museum would be another "gawk and awe" attraction doesn't fly with me. I don't believe it's a matter of whether we should have a Katrina Museum in downtown Biloxi but how soon we can begin to preserve the story for generations.
Somewhere I read a quip, "Life will hand Mary no harder task than to know the right answer and have nobody ask." In the case of this Mary, the task I find difficult is to know so many things and not have enough time to write about them all.
