Restaurant evacuated for roof fire
GULFPORT — Barnhill’s Buffet at 11487 U.S. 49 was evacuated for a short while early Tuesday evening while firefighters put out a minor fire on the roof.
Gulfport Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said firefighters responding just after 5 p.m. found smoke and flames but the fire was contained to the roof. The cause is believed to be an electrical problem from a sign on the roof, Sullivan said.
Thirteen firefighters and six units responded.
The restaurant was able to reopen for business.
