MDOT to resurface roads in 2 counties

HARRISON COUNTY — The Mississippi Department of Transportation is soon to begin work on a $7.9 million resurfacing project of several roads in Hancock and Harrison County. The project is scheduled for completion next summer. In Hancock County, Washington, St. Francis and Main streets will be re-surfaced. In D’Iberville, LeMoyne and D’Iberville boulevards, Lamey Bridge and Brodie roads, Bayshore Drive and 7th Avenue will be resurfaced.

In Long Beach, Pineville, Beatline, Daugherty, Commission, Klondyke and Old Pass roads will be resurfaced, along with Cleveland Avenue and Railroad Street. In Gulfport, Three Rivers, Tegarden, Pass, South Swan, Duckworth and Creosote roads will be resurfaced, along with West Railroad, 28th Street and 30th Avenue.

Water outage for Jeff Davis, S. Burke in Long Beach

LONG BEACH — A water outage will be in effect for residents of First Street between Jeff Davis Avenue and South Burke Avenue from 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 28. Construction crews will be doing a tie-in of water pipes at South Burke Avenue.

New cell phone scam not part of the ‘Do not call’ list

Southern District Public Service Commissioner Leonard Bentz recently warned state residents of fraudulent e-mails informing consumers to register their cell phone number or risk being contacted by telemarketers.

The scam has been in effect for some time. Bentz says residents can be registered for the official Mississippi Do Not Call List by calling 1-800-356-6429. There is no deadline to register and the lists do not expire.
