IT’S PINK NIGHT AT IP
Think pink tonight and join the fight against cancer at Chill Ultra Lounge at IP Casino Resort.
The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Pink Night is from 6 to 8 p.m. For every pink drink sold, $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society and women wearing pink will receive a free drink.
Sip on drinks made especially for the event, including a cotton candy martini, watermelon lemonade, X-rated martini, and cherry pom bomb. These drinks will be featured at Chill, Carnaval de Brasil, Tien, and Thirty-two throughout October.
USM DISPLAYS JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS
The beauty and intricate detail of Japanese art is showcased in the exhibition “A Private Collection of Japanese Woodblock Prints,” Oct. 23 to Dec. 4 at The University of Southern Mississippi Katrina Research Center on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will feature more than 60 woodblock prints from the collection of Joseph W. Bailey of Hattiesburg. Bailey steadily built his art collection over a 25-year period with purchases at antique stores, flea markets and Internet auctions.
This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Southern Miss Alumni Association and Yuki’s Yapanese Steak and Sushi House in Biloxi. The gallery is on the third floor of the library and open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

KICKIN’ IT ON THE COAST
The first Kickin’ It on the Coast, to benefit the D’Iberville Youth Soccer League, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Warrior Stadium parking lot in d’Iberville on Lamey Bridge Road.
Events include a bike show, blessing of the bikes, a poker run and other bike games. Soccer games and events include a Penalty Kick competition, street soccer competition, and other children’s activities. HANCOCK STUDIO TOURS
The Arts, Hancock County will present the annual Arts Alive! Studio Tour 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, this year with more than 20 venues and 50 artists.
The tours are throughout Hancock County from Pearlington to Bay St. Louis, Kiln and Diamondhead. Pick up a tour guide and map prior to the event at the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, 412 U.S. 90, Suite 6, Bay St. Louis; or during the weekend at the Historic Bay St. Louis Depot, 1926 Depot Way.
It’s a free, self-guided tour that started in 2004 and takes visitors from Pearlington to Diamondhead and the Kiln, to Waveland and Cleremont Harbor and into the heart of Bay St. Louis, where there’ll also be a Saturday night street party. Artists will demonstrate their techniques and encourage creative participation, as well as sell their original works.
Performing arts will be showcased for the first time this year at “ArtsAlive Boogaloo,” an open-air music and dance event on the tennis courts by the Old City Hall on Second Street in Bay St. Louis, Saturday night only. The dance is free and open to all with music by the Pat Murphy Band.

BID FOR LIFE
“Bid for Life,” a fund raiser to benefit The South Mississippi AIDS Task Force, will be held Oct. 30 at the Beau Rivage. It’s a live/silent auction of artwork from local, regional and national artists. All funds raised at “Bid for Life” will be used directly benefit residents of Harrison, Hancock, Jackson, Pearl River, George and Stone counties, organizers say. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased by contacting SMATF, 385-1214.
