Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College offensive tackle Martinas Rankin visited Oklahoma last weekend.
The Sooners are high on Rankin's list, along with Mississippi State and Ole Miss among the Division I schools.
Rankin told SoonerScoop.com that he nearly verbally committed.
"I guess you could say I kind of backed off, I want to take another trip to my other two stop schools and see how I feel while I'm there," Rankin said. "I haven't been to Ole Miss since the summer, and I have a good relationship with a lot of players and coaches
Never miss a local story.
"I've 'been to Mississippi State, I've been there twice, and recently. I just want to get by there one more time to just see. When I was there I didn't think about committing but I could see myself playing for the school."
Rankin stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 295 pounds and could play either guard or tackle position for the Sooners.
"I'll probably take another visit or two (as well), I'm not sure where yet, just to see some other places, to see my options," Rankin said. I'm taking it as I go. My decision could come later or any day; I'm just going with feel."
