I had the opportunity to have a bird's eye view of the entire Gulf Coast recently when I went parasailing with Parasail Adventures out of Point Cadet Marina in Biloxi.
It is quite an experience.
If you've never been before, basically you go out into the Mississippi Sound on a boat that has a platform on the back of it. You get into a harness and hooked to the parachute, sit on the back of the platform and begin to rise into the air - 500 feet in the air, to be exact.
The view is amazing. The day I flew, it was slightly foggy, but I could still see the coastline from the Ocean Springs bridge to the Hancock Bank building in Gulfport.
I used to be afraid of heights. And by afraid, I mean deathly terrified. But, that said, if you're looking to cross off some high activities off your bucket list, I recommend parasailing.
It's very calming and low impact and even you're 500 feet above the water, it feels like you're barely moving.
When I was reeled back in to the boat, I didn't land dry. As with the other parasailers, I was dipped into the Gulf of Mexico. Well, just my feet anyway.
So if you're looking for a great view and a little bit of fun, sit back, relax and enjoy the view of the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast from the sky.
