Nobody's really talking about Moss Point as a team to watch in Region 4-5A, but the Tigers have a shot to make a huge statement at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Moss Point (4-2, 3-0) travels to No. 1 Picayune (6-0, 3-0) Friday to determine who will hold first place in the region.
Moss Point coach Kevin Jackson said today that he and his staff started analyzing Picayune film on Saturday, putting Friday's 39-7 victory over Long Beach in the past.
"On Saturday night and Sunday we were really trying to watch and study Picayune," Jackson said. "That process started Saturday evening."
Never miss a local story.
"(Picayune does) so many things so well. You've got to really prepare yourself mentally and physically. We've got to try to stop them somehow."
Jackson is preaching a lot of the same things that Pascagoula coach Lewis Sims was saying last week before his team got beat 49-10.
"It's definitely assignment football, gap responsibility and being where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there," Jackson said.
Picayune will be out for revenge Friday after the Tigers stunned the Maroon Tide last year, 35-29.
"They definitely won't overlook us," Jackson said.
