The DeSoto Canyon near the Florida Panhandle is what oceanographers say is keeping the oil from Mississippi shores, although people in Biloxi believe their prayers are helping hold the mess in the Gulf from our beaches.
Amid photos of oil in the waves to our east and pelicans covered with oil to our west, Biloxians watch and worry about what is to come.
Nationally people aren't hearing much about Mississippi – big surprise there. A story in The Washington Post said this is a good time to vacation and bring business to coastal Louisiana, Alabama and Florida – no mention of our state.
So to all those who didn't get their invitation, come on down to Biloxi for a heaping helping of Southern hospitality.
Never miss a local story.
