The GulfStates Hurricane Conference kicked off this afternoon at the Coast Convention Center in Biloxi. Gov. Haley Barbour and Gov. Bob Riley of Alabama were on hand, as well as Mark Cooper, director of Louisiana's Office of Homeland Security. The three states want to coordinate efforts on evacuation, shelters and communication because as they pointed out, when a hurricane affects one of these states, it affects them all. Check back Thursday and Friday for more updates on the conference.
