The alarm bells are ringing in Louisiana, especially New Orleans. With the third anniversary of Katrina on everybody's minds, that city is getting ready to evacuate its people.
Most of the experts are calling for that evacuation. Jeff Lightbown says Gustav could flirt with Category 5 status over the Gulf of Mexico, but will probably calm before reaching landfall. Jeff Masters at Weather Underground continues to ring the bell for a NOLA evacuation.
Folks remain focused on New Orleans, but we're not that far from there, as your pile of receipts from Crescent City restaurants and bars should remind you. South Mississippi remains in the cone of uncertainty. I, for one, have a list of things to get today so I'll be slinging elbows with you at your favorite retail outlet.
