The image of a nesting least tern attempting to hatch a Timex watch may finally replace the horrible scene of bludgeoned baby chicks. The mind image is more than 20 years old, but I can vividly see the bloodied, lifeless terns and black skimmer babies and hear the pitiful cries of their bird parents, too little to fight the murderers.
The Mississippi Coast "Te" Party has launched in earnest. The tempest began with investigation of the spelling of Tegarden Road. Both Teagarden and Tegarden are listed on official Gulfport maps and street signs, creating confusion and a query to Sound Off, the Sun Herald's anonymous call-in line.
