South Mississippi has a full year-round schedule of festivals, parades and celebrations for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of the headliners.

JANUARY

Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, areawide, parades and celebrations.

FEBRUARY

Mardi Gras, areawide, parades.

Mississippi Coast History Week, Biloxi, Re-enactments of the French settlement. Details: 388-5696.

MARCH

St. Patrick’s Day, areawide, parades.

Jackson County Ole Time Festival and Mule Pull. Details: www.smmha.com.

Art in the Pass, a two-day outdoor fine arts festival held at Pass Christian’s War Memorial Park located at the corner of Scenic Drive and Fleitas Avenue. Details: www.artinthepass.com.

Music in the Air, Pass Christian. Description: Patrons Admission - $50, Patron Party - 1:30 p.m. - upstairs at the Palace in the Pass. hors d’ouvres by Scenic Cafe Chef Doug Miller’s By Special Request Catering. Herb & Garden Festival, downtown Ocean Springs, annual event displays plants and herbs for gardening, landscape design and garden art. Food, lectures and music. Details: 875-4424.

APRIL

Home & Garden Show, Biloxi, Coast Coliseum, exhibits of home design, construction, decor, etc. Details: 896-7646.

Picayune Street Fair, Picayune, downtown area, more than 250 vendors of food, jewelry, arts and crafts; held again in November. Details:

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, New Orleans Fairgrounds Race Course, music, food and artists. Details: (504) 522-4786.

D’Iberville Landing re-enactment, Ocean Springs, Front Beach, re-enactors dressed in 1699 period costumes. Details: 875-4424.

Smokin’ the Sound, power boat race held off Biloxi Beach. Details:

Mississippi Coast Coliseum Crawfish Festival, Biloxi. Annual event includes crawfish cookoff, food, rides, challenging games, unique vendors and musical entertainment. Recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the top 20 events in the Southeast. Details:

MAY

Long Beach Kite Fest, first weekend of May, near Long Beach Yacht Club, on the beach, Long Beach. Kite flying, kite building and more. Details: 863-6666.
