Bay St. Louis' Stereohype is unique among the crowd of original local bands. Their "ska" sound, a fusion of traditional Jamaican Mento rhythms, American jazz and punk progressions, has garnered them a loyal local following and several notable performances, including last year's Mississippi Coast Coliseum Crawfish Festival. They are also one of, if not the only, ska band in the entire state.

Guitarist Nicholas Rohde, vocalist Chase Thoms, drummer Stephen Thoms, bassist Ronnie Gardner, trumpeteer Talmadge Allen and trombonist Mondo Bellmonte played the Crawfish Festival stage after winning the Bud Big Stage Search II band competition last year. They will perform at 9:30 p.m. tonight in the final round of the current competition at Slippery Nick's, 11444 U.S. 49 N., Gulfport.
