Let me start by saying that I’m not a fan of animated Disney films. I never cried during “The Lion King” and had no desire to watch “Beauty and the Beast” or “Cinderella.”
I wasn’t inspired by magic carpet rides in “Aladdin” and don’t believe in Prince Charming. Who wants to wear a glass slipper anyway? Ouch.
You get the idea.
I’m also not the most political person in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I have my beliefs and I stand by them. Back when I was in college, I loved a heated Facebook debate about social issues, but I’ve grown past that in my old age. Today, I try to not speak about religion or politics, because no matter how much you debate, you probably aren’t going to change another person’s viewpoint.
Never miss a local story.
With that being said, I’m familiar with Chris McDaniel because he seems to be a constant political figure in the news. As a web producer, I have a plethora of headshots of the senator saved to my desktop for easy access because it seems he’s always around, doing something, challenging a ruling or making a statement.
Most of my childhood friends are married with children. Thus, I know all about that Idina Menzel power ballad “Let It Go” from “Frozen.” It gets stuck in my head on a weekly basis, and I hate the fact that I love to sing it in my car when I’m driving down the beach alone.
When McDaniel on Thursday appealed a Gulfport judge’s decision to deny a lawsuit to revive his primary loss to Thad Cochran, Sun Herald commenters took to “Frozen” memes to describe their feelings—Let it go. Let it goooooo.
I won’t reveal if I’m pro-McDaniel or anti-McDaniel, but I’m definitely pro-meme.
