Featuring Ronald and Ernie Isley, the Isley Brothers have made a major impact on the American music scene with iconic hits such as “Shout,” “It’s Your Thing” and “This Old Heart of Mine.”
They recently joined forces with Carlos Santana and members of his family for “Power of Peace,” which was released July 28. The album was recorded live in the studio with no rehearsals and it includes covers of “God Bless the Child” and “Mercy Me (The Ecology Song).”
Jamey Johnson returns to the IP Casino Resort at 8 p.m. on Friday. Tickets start at $34 and are available at Ticketmaster.com.
The country singer/songwriter, who was also in the U.S. Marines, released his breakthrough album, “The Lonesome Song,” in 2008. It included “High Cost of Living,” Stars in Alabama” and “In Color.”
Johnson also co-wrote the George Straight hit “Give It Away” with Bill Anderson and Buddy Cannon. In 2012, he released “Living For A Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran”which featured Johnson doing Cochran’s songs with the likes of Vince Gill, Willie Nelson and Ray Price.
One of the queens of country returns to the Coast. Tanya Tucker will be at the Golden Nugget Casino at 8 p.m. on Friday. Tickets start at $25 and are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Tucker burst onto the country music scene at age 13 with her hit song “Delta Dawn.” Her hits include “Texas (When I Die)” and “Here’s Some Love.”
She also dated Geln Campbell in the early 1980s. Campbell died Tuesday at 81.
